Privacy policy

This explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We never sell your data, and there are no adverts or trackers.

What we collect

Account: your email, your password (stored only as a secure hash) and your language.

Profile: what you enter, including faith, family and your wali’s contact details. Photos: the photos you upload and their blurred copies.

Activity: interests, matches, messages, blocks and reports.

Technical: your IP address (for security and to stop abuse), browser type (for sign-in sessions) and your last sign-in time.

Sensitive information

Your profile includes religious and family details. You choose to share them to find a spouse. By submitting your profile, you agree that we use them for that purpose only. Deleting your account removes them.

Who sees what

Only approved members of the opposite gender can see your profile — never the public or search engines. They see your age (not your date of birth), city and profile text.

Your photos stay blurred unless you choose to show them to a specific member.

Your wali’s contact details are shown only to a member you are matched with, and only while the match is active. Members never see your email.

Our admin team sees profiles and photos to review them. They only read messages between two members if one reports the other.

Service providers

Cloudflare hosts the site, database and photos, and runs the bot check. Resend sends our emails. They use your data only to provide these services. Data may be stored in the United States and other countries.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, interests and messages are deleted. We may keep reports and records of rule-breaking for safety.

Expired sessions, one-time links and security counters are removed automatically.

Your rights

You can see and edit your profile at any time, and delete your account from My account. To ask a question or request a copy of your data, email support@halalcircle.org.

If you live in the UK or EU, you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Cookies

We only use necessary cookies: your sign-in session, your language and one-time messages. No tracking or advertising cookies. The Cloudflare security check may set its own necessary cookie.

Under 18s, changes and contact

Halal Circle is not for anyone under 18. We remove accounts we believe belong to minors.
